The Tempest - an original poem by Vahiste

Her eyes were clear blue like the vast, wild sea In them, you could see her spirit roaming free No one dared to hold her down and no one ever would They knew from the start that she was equal parts of bad and good Just like her eyes, her soul screamed of the deep sea within The Tempest blew inside of her but from the world she kept it hidden She smiled all day, the lovely, simple smile Her perfectly curved lips stayed upside-down only for a while No one knew the pain she hid behind those calm, blue eyes Her presence always reminded us of happy things like moonlight and fireflies Her blond hair fell perfectly around her like a halo of gold She told the most touching stories that anyone had ever told She spoke of love and life and of the clear, blue sea She spoke of art and magic and of her one and only But every time she spoke of him, her words would stop midway And she would sadly smile and think of something else to say No one ever questioned her, they never saw past her smile She knew in her soul that they were only there for a while She cried each night when no one saw, the Tempest in her heart He had shot her through and through with an ever-poisonous dart Every time she loved she lost and she couldn’t take it anymore So this girl with eyes so blue, sunk deep to the sea’s floor She left the cruel world behind and lived the way she wanted to Forevermore one with the water, her eyes the same colour of the sea’s blue Finally, she was eternally free from her ever-aching heart She did what she had wanted to do from the very start Her face was set in a smile, her blue eyes wide open And this smile, for once, was real because her heart was no longer broken The sea that had taken her from us had calmed the Tempest within her soul She had finally mended her heart and reached her destined goal •♡•
